Job Description

Site Manager

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead the delivery of new build education projects and adjacent community or commercial builds valued up to $10 million.

This role suits a strong operator who thrives in structured environments, understands stakeholder sensitivity within live education settings, and can confidently manage subcontractors, programme, safety and quality outcomes on site.

The Opportunity

Reporting to a Team Lead, you will take full ownership of site operations, leading your team to deliver safe, compliant and high-quality outcomes in line with structured delivery processes.

You will be trusted to run your site with autonomy, maintain strong client relationships and ensure program certainty, cost control and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead all site coordination and delivery activities from mobilisation to practical completion
  • Drive programme outcomes through realistic lookaheads and sequencing
  • Champion a zero harm culture and ensure WHS compliance across all trades
  • Oversee quality assurance including ITP implementation and defect closeout prior to PC
  • Manage subcontractor performance, meetings and on-site communications
  • Identify risks early and escalate cost, time or quality impacts promptly
  • Maintain audit-ready records including diaries, permits, registers and site documentation
  • Support commercial discipline through timely documentation of instructions, delays and variations

What Good Looks Like

  • Projects delivered safely with hazards closed promptly
  • Programme milestones achieved with minimal disruption
  • Defects closed prior to practical completion
  • Clear, respectful communication with clients and consultants
  • Site documentation that stands up to audit

About You

You are a seasoned Site Manager with demonstrated experience delivering new build education or community infrastructure projects. Experience across adjacent sectors such as healthcare, aged care, civic or commercial builds will also be highly regarded.

You bring:

  • Senior site management experience within the construction industry
  • Strong sequencing and build methodology capability
  • Proven experience delivering projects up to $10 million
  • Confidence managing live or operational environments
  • Sound commercial awareness and ability to identify cost and programme risk
  • Natural leadership capability with the ability to mentor foremen and site teams
  • Open Site Supervisor Licence
  • Construction White Card
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Valid Driver Licence
  • Relevant tertiary or trade qualification in construction or engineering
  • Experience with Procore, HammerTech, Jobpac, Bluebeam and Microsoft Project will be advantageous.

Why join Melrose

  • 4 weeks annual leave plus 5 days paid wellbeing leave, available from your start date
  • Generous paid parental leave for both the primary carer and secondary carer
  • Regular social and work events, with genuine opportunities to build long term connections at Melrose
  • Leadership that is genuinely invested in your development and committed to creating a culture where people feel supported and want to come to work
  • 77.8% engagement score, supported

If you are looking for a role where you can take ownership of site delivery and contribute to well-executed education and community projects, we welcome your application.
