Lead the team. Own the detail. Deliver what you promise.

Fitout and refurbishment work moves quickly. Existing conditions throw up surprises; clients need to keep operating and decisions can’t sit unanswered for days.  We’re looking for a Project Manager who enjoys that pace, knows the detail and can get people working together to deliver a good job.

Job Description

The Role

You’ll manage projects from tender handover through to completion, with responsibility for safety, quality, program and profit.

You’ll work closely with our site teams and contract administrators, keeping procurement, costs and delivery on track. You’ll also be the main point of contact for clients and consultants, building trust through clear communication and doing what you say you will.

We want someone who takes ownership, makes sound decisions and follows things through.

What you’ll do

  • Plan and manage projects, including program, procurement and trade coordination.
  • Give site teams and contract administrators clear direction and timely support.
  • Keep on top of budgets, forecasts, contracts and variations.
  • Manage clients and consultants, keeping them informed and resolving issues early.
  • Plan works around existing conditions, access restrictions and occupied spaces.
  • Maintain safety and quality standards through to defects and handover.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience managing commercial fitout and refurbishment projects.
  • A good understanding of how work gets built and how to sequence it.
  • Confidence managing project finances, contracts and changes to scope.
  • The ability to lead a team and hold people accountable without making everything a battle.
  • Good judgement, clear communication and the initiative to deal with problems before they grow.

The Person

You’re organised, practical and comfortable making a call. You know when to get into the detail and when to let your team get on with it.

You can have a straight conversation with a subcontractor, work through a problem with a client and support a site manager when the pressure is on.

You take responsibility for your projects. If something’s slipping, you address it. If you need help, you ask early. And you care about handing over a job you’re proud of.

Why Melrose?

You’ll have room to run your projects, support from the people around you and a say in how we improve the business.

We value people who show initiative, follow through and treat others well. We work hard, speak openly and care about the quality of what we deliver.
